Dr. Margaret Bailey

Dr. Bailey has been a teacher for 32 years and presently works at Rollington Town Primary School where she has been its Principal since 1999.  Before her appointment as Principal, she served as Vice Principal from 1995 - 1999 and Classroom Teacher from 1988 - 1995.  She is also Part-time Lecturer/Research Supervisor at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.  Her quest to make an invaluable contribution to the education in Jamaica resulted in her being the Co-founder/Coordinator of the East Kingston and Port Royal ‘After-school Literacy Project’ which was started in 1993. 

Dr. Bailey has won numerous prestigious awards including the Prime Minister’s Medal of Appreciation for Service to Education, 2012/2013 Ministry of Education/LASCO Principal of the Year Award; The Elsa Goveia Award for West Indian  History and The Dean’s Award for Outstanding Academic Performance at the post Graduate level at the University of the West Indies.  She is a judge on the Junior Schools’ Challenge Quiz and a volunteer on the Credit Committee of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association Cooperative Credit Union. She is a Justice of the Peace for the Parish of Kingston.
